Torch Lake Sailing School is hiring sailing instructors and assistants for the 2023 season. 
Positions open for teens and adults age 13 and up.   Schedule is flexible.

Sailing School Director: (1) *** Position Filled ***

This is currently a volunteer position. 

Start: January 2023 End: December 2023 

Duration: Annual part-time intermittent position.  Hours vary monthly in the off-season.  Hours 8:30am-4pm Tuesday-Friday during peak sailing school weeks (late June through early August).  

Salary/Pay scale: negotiable based upon experience/certification.  

Supervisor: Torch Lake Sailing School Board of Directors

Type of position:  Seasonal, not open to unemployment.  Candidates must have own health insurance.  

Description/Duties:  Meet with TLSS Board of Directors minimum quarterly.  Director will develop course offerings and schedule for summer sailing clinics and work with TLSS board and volunteers to promote registration.   Director will participate in hiring and management of sailing school staff including supervising staff daily duties, submitting bi-weekly hours for payment, and coordinating communication between TLSS BOD, participants and staff.   Director will monitor annual budget and will coordinate equipment ordering and maintenence schedule of all sail school equipment and supplies.  Director will coordinate volunteers as needed for daily sail school operations.  

Lead Sail Instructor: (1) *** Position Filled ***

Duration: 6-8 weeks;  Monday-Friday   Hours: varies weekly (8:30am-5:00pm) 

Salary/Pay Scale: Negotiated based upon experience and certification 

Supervisor: Torch Lake Sailing School Board of Directors

Type of Position: Summer/seasonal, not open to unemployment. Candidates must have own health insurance. US Sailing Level 1 Certification Required; WSI Certification Preferred

Description/Duties: Lead Sail Instructor will develop curriculum for sailing classes and have input in hiring assistant sail instructors. Lead Instructor will assist with class offerings and schedules. Lead instructor will manage daily sailing school operations. Lead instructor will monitor sail school equipment and budget needs.

Sail Instructors: (2-3)       

Start: June 2023    End: August 2023

Duration: 6-8 weeks;  Monday-Friday   Hours: varies weekly (8:30am-5:00pm)

Description/Duties: Sail Instructors will assist in the development and teaching of curriculum for sailing classes.  Sail instructors will provide instruction in private lessons and group classes and assist with care and maintenance of sailing school equipment.   Must have experience with operating power boats.  

Assistant Sail Instructors (2-4) 

Start: June 2023    End: August 2023 

Duration: 6-8 weeks;  Monday-Friday   Hours: varies weekly (8:30am-5:00pm)  Hours to be determined by Lead Sail Instructor based on class registration/need.  

Salary/Pay Scale: Negotiated based upon experience and certification

Supervisor: Lead Sail Instructor 

Type of Position: Summer/seasonal, not open to unemployment. Candidates must have own health insurance. 

Description/Duties: Assistant Sail Instructors will provide basic sailing instruction as assigned by the Lead Instructor and provide assistance to sail instructors with care and maintenance of sailing equipment.   Duties may include operating sail boats, power boats, and using safety equipment. Boaters License preferred.
